Helping refugees – Greece

In the beginning of 2016 we have begun the actions aimed at helping refugees in Greece who, after the closing of the border with Macedonia, were stuck on the fields around the Greek village of Idomeni. Back then, we arranged the collection of tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, winter clothes, toys, and personal care products to help these people endure the hardships of camping out in primitive conditions. Our call for help received a very positive response from the citizens of Cracow. Thanks to their generosity we could provide the ones in need with things essential to survive. Transports with gathered goods were sent to the (no longer existing) camp in Idomeni three times. These actions were supported by Stowarzyszenie Pomocy Obywatelskiej im. Anny Fiszerowej (lit. Anna Fiszerowa Civic Assistance Association) and the Caritas agency of Saint John Kanty Church in Cracow. They donated a great part of goods that we sent to the refugees. Seeing the dreadful sanitary conditions in the camp, we extended our actions to provide the residents with several hundred camping showers funded by a partner foundation.
